I had an abortion when I was 17 years old. At that time, abortion had only been legal in California for about 3 years. I am so happy that I had access to a safe abortion. If it had not been legal, I would have done anything to end that pregnancy. It angers me that this fundamental right to govern what happens to our own bodies is under attack.

Women with unwanted pregnancies should not be forced to carry the fetus as if we are brood mares. Even though I was able to be sterilized 34 years ago and access to abortion is no longer an issue for me, I am still an outspoken defender for safe and legal abortions.
